Dyssomnia and parasomnias |
The Dyssomnia They form a set of sleep disorders consisting of an alteration of the quantity and quality of sleep. There are three types of Dyssomnia: - Deficiencies in sleep - these are the sleepless nights.
- Excess sleep - these are the hypersomnia:
- Narcolepsy-cataplexy: excessive daytime sleepiness with sleep attacks.
- The idiopathic hypersomnia: Daytime sleepiness, whose provenance is unknow.
- The recurrent hypersomnia: episodes of vaying duration, where the subject is sleeping more than normal.
- The psychiatric hypersomnia: Daytime sleepiness cause by a mental disorder.
- The hypersomnia secondary to medical conditions.
- The circadian rhythm disorder (or sleep-wake)
- Syndrome of delayed sleep phase: delayed sleep schedule.
- Syndrome phase advance of sleep: sleep schedule advanced.
- Hypernycthéméral syndrome (or syndrome vent). lack of synchronisation of circadian rhythm.
- Sleep-wake cycle irregular: sleep episode desorganized.
- Jetlag: alteration of circadian rhythm
- Shift work: irregular work hour.
- Do not confuse Dyssomnia and parasomnias, which are behavioral disorders occurring in the margins of sleep.
Parasomnias It is a series of events accompanying sleep, they may be pathological as physiological. Classification of parasomnias - Parasomnias by arousal disorders or parasomnias deep sleep
- Confusional arousals: episode of confusion occuring before or after sleep.
- Somnambulism: sleepwalking.
- Nocturnal fright: terified child apparently confused, but still asleep.
- Parasomnias by impaired sleep-wake transitions
- Ryhme sleep.
- Sleep myoclonus: fast twich occuring in sleep.
- Nocturnal cramps in the legs.
- Hypnopompic or hypnagogic hallucinations: falling asleep hallucianation or waking.
- Parasomnias usually associated with REM sleep (dreams)
- Nightmares: bad dream
- Sleep paralysis: atonia during sleep.
- Sleep behavior disorders during (RBD): living dreams
- Other nonspecific parasomnias sleep
- Bruxism: teeth grinding during sleep.
- Enuresis: inability to control urination.
- Somniloquy: sleep talking
- Catathrenia: groan or nocturn grunt.
- Exploding head syndrome: intense headache.
- Eating disorder of sleep.
